Em-Movement
Em-Movement is a community based, voluntary team of young directors and project co-ordinators working with young people. They provide free community events for young people and leaders to promote opportunities and unite the community.
Em-Movement and Aspire to Empower (a community focused organisation which aims to develop, empower, and educate disadvantaged and vulnerable young people from the ages of 13-21) developed and delivered 2 events at Bridge Academy, Hackney, supported by Culturepreneur Collective© project: Empowerment Day and I Am Unique.
The overall aim of both was to build up the confidence of young people, reduce their insecurities, reduce social pressures, and enhance their qualities, skill sets, and talents, through creative workshops and events. Throughout both events the team aimed to expand on the young people’s social and emotional core capabilities, in order to assist them with their decision making, independence and the way which they apply themselves to their education: for young people by young people
We linked the events to the arts organisations involved in Culturepreneur Collective© as an opportunity to recruit young people, exchange information, circulate offers/opportunities and support projects that they are involved in – including volunteer, careers, skills, training etc.
I Am Unique
I Am Unique is a show around identity and sends out a positive message that we are all unique and have a purpose to be fulfilled as individuals no matter the circumstance , experiences or struggles you can still become meet your purpose and be the person you want to be.
"We are all about supporting , developing and celebrating achievement of young people so the most of the acts were created through workshops and delivered by students from Bridge Academy working with their teacher, with the evening event being their first time infront of a live audience. It was a huge success and we received some great feedback on how much the show positively influenced students, teachers and parents."
Empowerment Day
Empowerment Day is geared towards all young people 11-18 years old, with a focus on those deemed hard-to-reach/disadvantaged. The Day is made up of various recreational, vocational and professional opportunities for young people of all ages, along with a variety of fun and skill based , interactive workshops aimed at enabling young people to have a voice and overcoming the difficulties in their lives, which have become barriers affecting their personal development.
Another outcome of the project is a youth led initiative developing a pilot mentoring model with Bridge Academy School - 10 young people approached the youth workers to develop one following the Youth Empowerment Day and I Am Unique event held at the school.
'Undiluted minds’ RADIO SHOW : by Youth Workers
Culturepreneur Collective© supported the Em-Movement network with their new radio programme that was not aimed directly at young people rather those that worked with young people and dealing with/interested in youth issues. It was an online empowerment show which discussed various current issues that our young people face, hot topics, music from various genres with a meaning, and a bit of banter. (16 Weeks 12 July – end November 2015) Sundays 2pm-4pm on doncityradio.com
It was a great space to share projects, thoughts, ideas, news, offers etc as a platform to promote opportunities and positive organisations which support our young people.
